Macon Officer Faces Firing After Waffle House Fight

A Macon police officer faces firing after allegedly striking another officer in a fight outside a Waffle House.

Macon police say Precinct 1 officer Anita Harrell was arrested Saturday and charged with simple battery and violation of oath of office.

A news release says Harrell's been put on five days administrative leave pending termination by the Internal Affairs Unit.

A police report says another officer, Courtney Coleman, claimed that Harrell hit her in the face in the parking lot of a Waffle House at 4094 Pio Nono Ave.

It allegedly happened around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

The police report does not say what the fight was about, but says a third Macon police officer was present.

Harrell has worked with MPD for four years.

She posted bond and was released on Sunday.

She was the second MPD officer arrested over the weekend.
