Guard Accused of Taking Alcohol into Macon Prison

Officials say a prison guard was arrested Sunday and charged with carrying drugs into Central State Prison in Macon.

Nazon Eo'ne Johnson, 22, was transported from the prison to the Bibb County jail, says Bibb Sheriff's spokesman Sean DeFoe.

According to the Bibb County jail website, Johnson has been charged with crossing guard lines with drugs and violating the oath of a public officer.

He's been released on $11,300 bond.

In a statement from the Georgia Department of Corrections, spokeswoman Dabney Weems wrote: "We can confirm that Officer Nazon Johnson of Central State Prison was arrested for introducing contraband into the facility."

Later Thursday, Weems, in a separate email, identified the contraband as alcohol. She did not say whether the alcohol was intended for Johnson's personal consumption or an inmate.

No word yet on what disciplinary action he faces.
