Investigators Return to Macon Murder Scene

Police investigators today returned to the home of a Macon woman who was murdered last week.

Crime scene investigators today worked inside the Stinsonville Road home of Gail Spencer.  They spent several hours looking for additional evidence inside the home before finishing around 2 p.m.  They say that had already gathered most of their major evidence, but Friday decided to make another sweep.

On Thursday, investigators searched a south Bibb County creek for a gun and a cell phone that may be connected to the murder.

That's according to a law enforcement source, who told 13WMAZ that investigators believe the murder resulted from an embezzlement scheme.

Spencer was found dead in her Macon home last Saturday and four people have been charged with felony murder. They are in the Bibb County jail.

The source told 13WMAZ that the four were apparently involved in a scheme to wire money from accounts belonging to Macon lawyer Calder Pinkston.

One of the suspects, Tracy Jones, worked with Spencer in Pinkston's office.

The source would not comment on how much money was involved.

Macon police and other agencies searched the creek for several hours Thursday but apparently found nothing.

They were looking for a cell phone belonging to Spencer and a gun belonging to one of the four suspects, the source said.
