Godsey Picked As Macon Water Authority Interim Chair | News
Bibb Probate Judge William Self III told 13WMAZ that he has officially selected R. Kirby Godsey to serve as interim chairman of the Macon Water Authority.
Godsey, former president of Mercer University, will fill the seat of longtime chairman Frank Amerson, who died last month.
Five members of the water authority board voted unanimously last Thursday to ask Self to name Amerson.
The authority's bylaws say the probate judge should name a reaplcement in the event of the chairman's seat vacancy.
Godsey will serve until the next board election, November 2013.
Godsey retired in 2005 as Mercer's president after 27 years. He is still the school's chancellor and remains active in many Macon civic groups.
Godsey is expected to be sworn - in at the next board meeting, November 6th.
