The Mount de Sales Academy faculty and staff reached a major milestone for The Campaign for Mount de Sales, contributing more than $100,000 toward the new middle school building with 100% of the faculty and staff participating. To celebrate the momentous occasion, the faculty and staff team donned "Giving 100% Every Time" t-shirts on Thursday during the fall school-wide lunch on the lawn with parents and students.

Launched in 2008 to build a new secured student parking lot (completed in 2009) and a middle school building, the capital campaign stalled due to economic constraints and an overwhelming goal. Mount de Sales relaunched the campaign for the new middle school this fall with a grassroots effort and a goal of $3.6 million; the relaunch was met with enthusiasm and anticipation. One major reason behind the relaunch was a $500,000 matching gift pledged by an anonymous donor. In order to receive the matching funds, the donor specified that current parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of the school must participate at certain levels. The faculty and staff team needed to contribute at 100%, a goal that has now been met.

This project reflects the mission of Mount de Sales Academy to provide exceptional educational opportunities for the youth of Middle Georgia, and confirms its commitment to uphold those values brought to MDS by the Sisters of Mercy 136 years ago. A single facility for middle school students is essential for their developmental, social, and intellectual growth.  The new structure will feature science labs, classrooms arranged in a team layout, a counseling suite and administrative offices. The completed project will also bring opportunities for growth in the upper school division. Among these are curriculum expansion, student-focused enhancements to the learning environment such as study gardens, technology upgrades to an already above par technology infrastructure, and additional classroom space.

To date, The Campaign for Mount de Sales has raised more than $3.1 million. After campaign expenses and construction costs for the student parking lot, $1.3 million is left to raise to complete the project. Mount de Sales plans to break ground in June of 2013.
