Jones Elementary Holds First Student Council Elections

In celebration of the country's Election Day, Jones Elementary School conducted its very first Student Council elections. Third through fifth grade students voted for their class representatives and Student Council officers.

The school organized the Student Council to promote school pride, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and to develop pride and commitment to the community. Students will support special projects to enhance and improve the school and community and they will have an opportunity to discuss general student concerns or problems within the school with school administrators.

The fifth grade officers elected will execute the Student Council meetings and third and fourth grade representatives will report information back to their individual classrooms and serve as their class's voice.

Student Council officers are Dorian Wilson, president; Amina Thomas, vice president; Mya Coon, treasurer; Jaisiah Jordan, secretary; and Makayla Knight, officer liaison (appointed position). Fourth grade class representatives are Morgan Basley, Ny’Arie Langston and Zaulina Pitts. Third grade class representatives are Kyla Bronson, Jamiya Manson and A’Shawntee McLin.
