A man with a silver pistol tried to rob a north Macon store but left when a clerk set off an alarm.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Forsyth Food Mart, 4451 Forsyth Road.
A police news release said the man, dressed in black, entered the store, propped the store open with a rock and demanded money.
When the clerk said told the man that he'd set off an alarm to alert police, the robber ran off toward Rivoli Drive without money or merchandise.
Police released additional details about the robber's appearance Tuesday evening.
He was wearing a "somewhat shiny" hooded jacket with a long silver detail at the wrist, black skull cap and braided hair.
