NewTown Macon and the Peyton Anderson Foundation gave the Macon-Bibb consolidation task force a $50,000 check Wednesday morning.
City spokesman Chris Floore says the team can decide to use the money however they would like.
After next Wednesday's task force meeting, the consolidation costs could reach near $530,000 if they approve a handful of proposed consultants.
Those groups include a financial consultant, facilities assessment, communications plan, and benefits consultant.
The group is looking for grant money from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to help cover the $62,142 proposed to cover the communications costs. That includes webcasting equipment and public surveys.
