Kids Yule Love Gets Gifts From Tattnall Square Students

Students at Tattnall Square Academy held their 25th annual Kids Yule Love Christmas program Wednesday morning. They gathered about 1,200 gifts and donated $1,250 to the non-profit.

To get everyone in the Christmas spirit, students sang, danced, and even had a live nativity scene. Also during the program, County Commissioner Joe Allen thanked students for their help. Allen is the founder of Kids Yule Love.

"I always look to Tattnall to help us out a great deal. This is their program as much as it is anybody's that helps with Kids Yule Love," said Allen. "It's all about the children and the love of God, and the bottom line is it's wonderful what they have done here."

Barney Hester of Tattnall Square Academy helped Allen get this Christmas program partnership started between the school and Kids Yule Love. Hester said the kids get as much as they give to children in need.

"Our kids put a lot of effort in buying these gifts, and it's not a 'just go to the store and grab' or 'send parents,' our older kids actually go and put thought into it," said Hester. "They know that the gift that they are giving may be the only gift that a child receives on Christmas morning."

But Allen said while the gifts from Tattnall Square Academy help, they still are down gifts for the season.

"Right now, we're so far behind, we're so far behind right now, even with Tattnall's toys that they have given us we're still going to be behind, so don't think that we're still not going to be hurting," said Allen.
