Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Returns to Grand Opera House | News
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Sugarplum fairies danced on the stage of Macon's Grand Opera House Thursday night.
Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker returned with all its fanfare for the 28th year.
It started as the dream of Jean Evans Weaver, a Macon Dance instructor, who saw the talent in Central Georgia and believed it could rival performances of some of the top ballet companies in the country.
While professional coaches, instructors, and artists are on hand, most of the performaners are amateurs.
Board Member Rose Mary McCarren said many of the productions are sold out, but some tickets remain.
Additional performances will happen through Sunday at 7:30 p.m., with weekend matinees at 2:30 p.m.
