Arson Suspected in Macon House Fire

Macon-Bibb County fire investigators now suspect that a Christmas morning house fire was caused by arson.

Chief arson investigator Sgt. Ben Gleaton says "there were obvious signs of forced entry into the house."

And he said the dog left inside the house was outside when firefighters arrived.

The fire hit a home at 2770 Village Green Drive in south Macon early Tuesday.

Gleaton asked anyone with information on the fire to call the Georgia Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.

Owner Brittany Hadley said she and her family were away visiting relatives when she was told at 5 a.m. that her house was on fire.

The house was destroyed, along with the Christmas presents Hadley was planning to give to her godchildren.

The charity Kids Yule Love said it will replace the gifts.

"I just try to count my blessings, and thank God that I still have me," says Hadley.
