News

A 38-year-old Macon woman has been ordered to stay away from her husband who she is accused of shooting the day after Christmas.

Magistrate Cedric Leslie told Sharon Brooks Browner, "You can't go around shooting your husband."

Police say Browner shot her husband, Melton, in the left shoulder around 3 p.m. on Wednesday at their home at 4500 Clover Place near Rocky Creek Road in south Macon.

He told police they had been arguing prior to being shot. A detective told Leslie had the bullet hit Melton Browner "a little lower" it could have struck him in the heart.

Leslie noted that the couple has had four children together.

Sharon Browner was arrested on Eisenhower Parkway and charged her with aggravated assault family violence.

Her bond was set at $5,700. She remains in the Bibb County jail.
