Macon Area's Unemployment Rate Falls Again in November | News
With 400 new jobs and 289 fewer new unemployment claims, metro Macon's jobless rate fell to 8.7 percent in November, down from 9 percent in October.
That's according to a release from the Georgia Department of Labor.
Metro Macon's unemployment rate in November 2011 was 9.4 percent.

Over the past year, GDOL says the area has gained 2,100 jobs for a total of 99,200.
That means the Macon area has seen jobs grow by 2.2 percent since November 2011, which is higher than the state's 1.6 percent job growth rate over the same time.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 8.5 percent, down slightly from October's 8.7 percent.
The Athens area has the lowest area jobless rate at 6.2 percent, while metro Dalton had the highest at 11 percent.
