Fire Damages Macon Home
News

The Macon-Bibb fire department responded to a call about 7:30 p.m. Sunday of a house on fire at 3643 Champion Drive in Macon.

The fire was called in by the homeowner who was at home with their children.

Sgt. Ben Gleaton of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department said that no one was injured but that the fire caused extensive damage to the house, destroying the carport and much of the roof.  A car inside the carport was also destroyed.

Gleaton said that the source of the fire seems to have been the utility closet, containing the water heater, next to the carport.

Gleaton said that the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
