Bridges Named A-Sun Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. (School Release) - After leading Mercer to a perfect 2-0 week with road wins over Jacksonville and North Florida, sophomore guard Precious Bridges was voted the A-Sun Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.

This is Bridges second career A-Sun Player of the Week award and second of the 2012-13 campaign.

Bridges had a masterful week on the hardwood for the Bears, helping the squad sweep a pair of road conference games in the same weekend for the first time since March of 2004.

The West Palm Beach, Fla. native averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for the weekend. Bridges scored 22 points against Jacksonville and 23 points at North Florida to give her six 20-plus scoring efforts this season.

Bridges scored her 500th career point in Mercer's win over UNF and is currently ranked third in the A-Sun Conference averaging 16.6 points per game.

Bridges and the Bears return home for the first in over two weeks next time out when it hosts USC Upstate on January 19. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Hawkins Arena.
