Bridges Snags Second-Straight Player of the Week Title | News
MACON, Ga. (School Release)- After leading Mercer to yet another perfect 2-0 week with home wins over USC Upstate and East Tennessee State, sophomore guard Precious Bridges was rewarded with her second-straight Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award on Tuesday afternoon.
This is Bridges third career A-Sun Player of the Week award and third of the 2012-13 campaign, after capturing the honor on December 11 and January 15.
Bridges now has the most A-Sun Player of the Week honors out of any player in the league, besting Stetson's Victoria McGowan and Florida Gulf Coast's Sarah Hansen who have each been selected twice.
Bridges had another dominant week on the parquet helping the Bears extend their winning streak up to five games, their longest unbeaten run since the 2005-06 season.
The West Palm Beach, Fla. native scored 23 points in each of Mercer's wins over USC Upstate and ETSU and has now topped the 20-point plateau in four-straight contests.
For the season, Bridges now leads the A-Sun Conference with 17.3 points per game and 120 field goals made.
Bridges and the Bears are back on the road next time out when they travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb on January 26. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Allen Arena.
