Drive-By Truckers to Headline Big Bird Bash | News
Macon's premiere independent music festival will be held at Luther Williams Field this year.
A bigger venue was in order for the Big Bird Bash, which is usually held at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom. Organizers say the festival has grown steadily since its inception three years ago.
After a venue change in 2013, a name change is in order for 2014. Organizer Kristen O'Neal announced that the festival's name will change to the Macon Music Festival beginning next year.
"Macon needs a music festival," said O'Neal. "We decided that since there are so many great local artists coming through the downtown community, we want to do something big."
Hummingbird General Manager Tim Obelgoner is excited to see the festival make its way to a larger stage.
"When we first [thought of] the Big Bird Bash, it was an attempt to bring the local music scene into the Hummingbird and give local artists a place to display their talents," said Obelgoner. "Due to popular demand, we've decided to move the festival outside where we can have a larger audience."
This year's headliner is Drive-By Truckers.
The supporting acts: Drivin' n' Cryin', Modern Skirts, and Moon Taxi. Gringo Grande and Back City Woods round out the local acts.
Cox Capitol Theatre, The Big House Museum, and Macon-Bibb Co Parks and Recreation.
