MACON, Ga (School Release). - After a successful three-game homestand, the Mercer women's basketball puts its 10-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Johnson City to take on East Tennessee State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mountain States Health Alliance Athletics Center.

Mercer's (16-7, 10-2 A-Sun) current 10-game winning streak is now tied for the 12th longest active winning streak in the nation. The Bears have also played well away from Hawkins Arena of late, as they enter Saturday's contest on a five-game road winning streak.

Scouting the Opposition

East Tennessee State (6-14, 4-9 A-Sun) enters play on Saturday on a three-game losing streak after most recently coming out on the wrong end of a 70-48 decision to Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 11. Junior Kendra Grant tied a career-high with 24 points and classmate Sharnea Boykin tallied a career-best 15 assists to help Mercer to a 79-64 win over the Bucs in the squad's first match-up on Jan. 21. ETSU ranks last in the A-Sun Conference giving up 74.0 points per game on the defensive end. Junior Destiny Mitchell paces the Bucs offensively with team-highs of 11.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's basketball team won its 10th-straight game and head coach Susie Gardner captured her 200th career victory after downing Jacksonville 68-61 on Feb. 11 at Hawkins Arena. Senior Sharmesia Smith led four Bears in double-figures with a career-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field. Joining Smith in the scoring column was sophomore Precious Bridges with 12 points and senior Ry'van Buchanan and sophomore Alicia Williams with 10 points apiece. With the Bears clinging to a two-point lead and the shot clock running down, junior Sharnea Boykin put Mercer ahead to stay when she drilled her first three-pointer of the entire 2012-13 season to make the score 62-57 with 2:40 to go in the game.

- In her 14th season as a head coach, Susie Gardner captured her 200th career win with a 68-61 win over Jacksonville on Feb. 11. Owner of a 200-204 career record, Gardner's third season at Mercer is turning into one of the programs best campaigns of all time. The Bears 10-game jump from six wins in 2011-12 to 16 wins this season is the biggest turnaround in the country based solely on wins, leading Stony Brook from the America East Conference and SWAC member Texas Southern who each have nine-game swings.

- Two more Bears have a chance to clinch some impressive individual milestones on this two-game road trip. Senior Sharmesia Smith is just 19 rebounds shy of 600 during her time in Macon while junior Kendra Grant is 49 points away from 500 for her career.
