Loft Projects Coming to Downtown Macon | News
A building on Cherry Street in Macon is about to get a makeover.
The Historic Macon Foundation will restore a structure downtown to create four residential lofts, and one storefront.
Prospective owners need to be in for the long haul - the units will be for sale, not for rent.
Renovation for the project is expected to take six months, and will be supported by the EJ Grassman Trust's 1772 Foundation, as well as the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.
The revolving fund will go toward restoring and building future lofts in downtown Macon.
"This is a downtown revolving fund that we just met," said Historic Macon Foundation Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator Jennifer Mayer. "We're hoping once this building is finished and this project is done, we'll move forward and do some more buildings downtown."
Construction on the inaugural lofts will begin in two weeks.
