Mercer Returns to Practice

After four days of thinking back on their loss in the Atlantic Sun Championship game, the Mercer men's basketball was back at Hawkins Arena Wednesday night.

Mercer lost to Florida Gulf Coast 88-75 on Saturday.  The Eagles picked up their first NCAA Tournament bid with the victory.

The Bears' season isn't over yet.  Mercer won the regular season title and will play in the NIT.

"Its been our season goal to win the Atlantic Sun and obviously we didn't get that done," said junior, guard Bud Thomas.  "That definitely hurts.  Its been a tough three days, but I think we're all excited about the opportunity we have with the NIT."

Last season, Mercer won the CIT.  Now they'll take a step up and look to win the NIT.

"You don't want to focus on your loss and be down," explained junior, center Monty Brown.  "You want to be able to give a lot of energy at this practice, make sure everybody is on the same page and everyone is excited to be back."

Selection for the NIT is Sunday night following the NCAA Tournament Selection Show.
