Rutland Track Stands Out on Big Stage

Atlanta, GA- The Rutland Hurricanes Track Teams participated in The 42nd Annual Morehouse Relays at the Edwin Moses Track in Atlanta, Friday and Saturday.

The meet included more than 25 colleges and 30 high schools from the peach state, Florida and Tennessee including 12 time state champions Southwest Dekalb, ML King, Cedar Grove, and the lone Central Georgia represenative, the Rutland Hurricanes. 

The reigning Bibb County Men & Women's Track champions had a great showing, having individuals qualify for the finals in almost every event.  State champion (300m hurdles) Senior Keke Brown, along with Junior standout Tyler Ragin, freshman sprinters Janai Scott and Breanca Davis helped lead the Lady Canes to several top 5 finishes and a 1st place finish in the long jump by Ragin.  

The boys 4x400 meter relay led by Seniors Kiwi Troupe, Demarius Williams, Deandre Person and Darius Cooper, set the standard at the meet by posting a 3:20.22 in the meets final event.  The Canes and Lady Canes have 5 seniors on this years team that have are being heavily recruited to perform at the collegiate level.
