John Ronald “Ron” Medlin, Sr., 72, passed away on October 1, 2012, at his home in Auburn, Alabama after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was cared for by many loving souls at Monarch Estates during his illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5 at 3 p.m. at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Macon. Reverend Cass DuCharme will officiate and visitation will follow the service in the Great Room. Graveside burial services will be private. Ron was raised in Atlanta and graduated from Henry Grady High School in 1957. While serving as youth pastor at Jackson Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ron met a young nursing student, Mauriece Roland, and they married on December 5, 1958. Ron began a long career with Keller Industries immediately following high school. Over the next three decades, he worked for Keller in Atlanta, California and Florida. In the 1990’s, he joined Kinco, Inc. where he led the south Florida branch until his retirement in 2000. During his years in Fort Lauderdale, Ron was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach where he served as a church deacon and sang in the choir. In 2000, Ron and Mauriece moved to Macon and became involved members of Highland Hills Baptist Church. He also continued to enjoy golfing. He is predeceased by his wife, Mauriece. In 2006, Ron married Donna Keyser of Macon. He is survived by Donna, daughters Lori Medlin (Julie Finley) of Plano, Texas and Catherine Lyle (Win) of Auburn, Alabama and son John Medlin, Jr. (Kathleen) of Macon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, David and Caitlin Pearson of Plano, Texas, John, Andrew, Christopher, James and Margaret Lyle of Auburn, Alabama, and Anna Kate and Jack Medlin of Macon.
