Charles English

 

Charles Wright English, 85, died December 1, 2011 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimers. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Rett English and his parents, George and Lucille English.

Mr. English was born in Dublin, Georgia. He graduated from Dublin High School and attended the University of Florida and Mercer University. Mr. English served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former Governor and active member of the Macon Moose Lodge. A partner in Rett Tile Company, his profession was tile setter, painter and builder. Mr. English was a devoted husband, father, and friend, and will be best remembered for his generosity of spirit and giving personality.

Mary Bernadette Myers

Mary Bernadette Myers: 93, of Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, December 2, 2011. In celebration of her life, a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Father Allan J. McDonald will officiate. A rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street. Visitation will follow until 9 p.m. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late William Ellsworth Chamberlain and Kathryne Walsh Chamberlain. She was the widow of George Joseph Myers, Jr., her husband of sixty-one years and predeceased by two brothers, Robert Chamberlain and David Chamberlain. Bernadette was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and was a homemaker. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all. Macon- Former Bibb County Sheriff Raymond “Ray” Lawrence Wilkes, Sr., passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 10:00AM, in the Ingleside Baptist Church Worship Center with Doctors Tim McCoy, Mark Hudgins and Laudis H. Lanford officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 31, 2011, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM and from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, in the Ingleside Baptist Church Worship Center Gathering Area.

Mary Lee Overman

 

Macon- Mary Lee Overman, 82, of 144 Fox Road, died Thursday, October 13, 2011. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Tony Smith officiating. The family will greet friends following the funeral at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to World Vision Ministry, P. O. Box 9716, Department W, Federal Way, Washington 98063-9716.

Mrs. Overman was a member of Ingleside United Methodist Church. Mrs. Overman is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Olivia and Chuck Dinsmore of East Boothbay, Maine, Kathryn and Prestley Guy of Banner Elk, North Carolina, and Marie and Tony Smith of Macon; two grandchildren; sisters, Sue Overman and Becky Williams, both of Greensboro, North Carolina; brother, Claude Ward of Madison, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Jack Pierce Cox of Macon, Georgia died at his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 14, 2011 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola with the Reverend Len Strozier and Dr. Jim Bruner officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, from 6:00-7:30pm. The family may be contacted at the Cox residence. Mr. Cox was the owner of Jack Cox Plumbing & Heating, a business serving Macon for over 50 years. He was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church, now New Heights Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mattie Cox.
