James Edward Muse III


James Edward Muse, III passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born October 7, 1936 in Pinehurst, North Carolina to the late James Edward and Helen Frye Muse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katie Childress and Alma Taylor, and brother, Charles A. Muse, and father-in-law, Bruce B. Bailey.

Jim grew up in Robbins, North Carolina and graduated from Elise High School. Following high school, he served 4 years with the United States Navy. He then went on and obtained his BS degree from Wake Forest University.

After graduation, Jim served as head golf professional at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1964 he joined New York Life Insurance Company. He obtained the designations of CLU and ChFC. After 34 years, he retired as Managing Partner of the Central Georgia Office.

Robert Pelissier


Macon-Robert “Rob” Pelissier, 44, died Sunday, July 31, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Ingleside Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Tim McCoy and Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Perry, GA. Visitation will be between 6:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Sammy Thompson


MACON – Charles Samuel “Sammy” Thompson, 72, passed away July 31, 2011, in his hometown of Macon. A visitation will be held at Hart’s at the Cupola, on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AC Pup’s Central Georgia C.A.R.E.S., 277 MLK Jr Blvd, Macon, GA 31201, or the donor’s favorite charity.

Sammy graduated from Macon’s Lanier High School in 1957 where he played on the football team. After high school, Sammy pursued his love of art and developed his considerable creative talents as a draftsman in the Navy during two tours of duty on board the USS Bennington and the USS Kearsarge. His creative inspiration led him to pursue a career in architecture.

James E. Tyler


MACON- James E. Tyler 91 died Saturday, July 30, 2011. Mr. Tyler was born June 9, 1920 in Macon to Judge and Mamie Tyler. Funeral services will be Tuesday August 2 at 11:00 at Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Tyler was the former owner and operator of Gem Cleaners. He was a WWII veteran, Square dance caller and avid baseball fan.

As a young man Jim pitched for several minor league teams and went on to compete in a senior league well into his eighties. He never lost his love for the game.

Betty Jean "Jeannie" Honaker


Betty Jean “Jeannie” Honaker: 45, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2011 in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, Macon, Ga. at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Reverend Charles Rose will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, She is the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Honaker and Shirley A. Coleman Honaker of Columbia, South Carolina. She was a songwriter for the gospel group, New Blue Grass Gospel Connection.

She is survived by her Sister, Mary Brock (Bart) of Batavia, Illinois; Sister, Beverly Summers of Macon, Ga.

Linda Roberts House


Linda Roberts House, 64, of Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 after an extended illness. A memorial service and interment of ashes will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 753 College Street in Macon, with The Reverend Hal Weidman officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church undercroft.

Linda was born in Macon, Georgia on January 28, 1947 to the late W. Ed Roberts and Hassie Lee Breedlove Roberts. A graduate of Miller High School, Linda attended Brenau College and graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Following graduation she taught school in the Atlanta area for several years.

Nettie Dekle


Nettie Dekle, beloved mother of five, grandmother of 19, great-grandmother of 10, and affectionately known as “Mama D” died on July 25, 2011 at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverend Alan Benson officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. Visitation will be between 7 and 8 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola. Flowers are accepted, but donations may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 735 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA 31204.

Born in Cordele, Georgia to the late William Giles Webb and the late Nettie Lee Cunningham and predeceased by her husband, Dr. Marcus Reid Dekle, Sr., she was a resident of Macon for over 60 years. Mama D lived her life to the fullest enjoying travel, working in the garden, football season and, most of all, her family and friends.
