Myra Harris Odom


Norcross, GA- Myra Harris Odom, 82, of 4260 Ramey Court, died Friday, June 10, 2011. Services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00AM at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverend Steve Waldorf officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends at the church immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 753 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204 or to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.

Mrs. Odom was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Gordon Harris and the late Lori Simmons Harris and she was predeceased by her husband of more than fifty years, Ralph Wayne Odom, Sr. and her daughter, Marsha Kay Odom.

Doris Hubbard Sapp

Macon- Doris Hubbard Sapp, 90, died Thursday, June 9, at Magnolia Manor in Macon, where she had lived for 27 years. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Rumford Center’s Mills Chapel of The Methodist Home for Children and Youth in Macon. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Sapp was born in Laurens County, raised her family in Bleckley County, and moved to Macon in 1969 where she was employed at Arlene’s dress shop. She loved learning and taught that same love to her four children. She especially loved music, theater, reading, crocheting, and craft projects. Preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Sapp, she is survived by sons Roger C. (Janice) Sapp and Kevin F. (Janice) Sapp of Macon and daughters Kathy (Lee) Lovett of Gainesville and Edith “Boo” (Raymond) Padgett of Savannah. Her survivors also include seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Linton McLeod


MR. LINTON LANIER McLEOD, age 61, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Mr. McLeod was born in Screven, GA, a former CSX Railroad welder and son of the late Adrienne Howard McLeod & John Fletcher McLeod.  He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers – Arthur McLeod & Howard McLeod.

Survivors:  2 Sons – Brian McLeod (Holly) & Howard McLeod (Christy) both of Waycross;  4 Grandchildren – Kayla McLeod, Kyce McLeod, Brent McLeod & Taylor Kersey;  2 Brothers – Phillip McLeod & Lamar McLeod both of Eastman;  Several Nieces & Nephews.

The family will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 7:00PM-8:00PM Friday, June 10.

Marie Beasley Reid


Marie Beasley Reid: 93, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Father Alan McDonald will officiate. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and a scripture service will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street.

Born in Macon, She was the daughter of the late Oscar Cleveland Beasley and Lucy Green Langford Beasley. She is the widow of Thomas Louis Reid Sr. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Robert Lee Porter


Reverend Robert Lee Porter, 86, died Friday, June 3, 2011. He is a member of St. Andrew Christian Church. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverends Bill Hammonds and Gene Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be between 3:00PM and 5:00PM on Sunday at Hart’s at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medcen Community Foundation for either Hospice of Central Georgia or Cancer Center Foundation, 858 High Street, Macon, GA 31294.

Rodney Mack Browne


Dr. Rodney Mack Browne, 73, of Macon died Friday, June 3, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at Highland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. James C. Dant and Rev. Cass DuCharme officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hart’s at the Cupola on Sunday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Brenda Mitchell



Brenda Lynn McCormick Mitchell was born September 17, 1950 and died June 3, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Northway Church, with the Reverends Phil Anderson and Carl Ellington officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at Lavonia City Cemetery, Lavonia, Georgia, officiated by Reverend Richard Beilski... The family will greet friends between 7:00 and 8:30PM on Sunday at Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Northway Church. She was a faithful Christian servant who loved her daughters and family. She was dedicated to her spiritual mission through many leadership roles, including Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and youth advisor. Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by her parents, Arthur McCormick and Annie Laura McCormick, and brother, James Herbert McCormick.
