Henry DeWitt "Pete" Peterson

 

Macon-Henry DeWitt “Pete” Peterson, 91, died Monday, May 9, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Billy Rogers Pritchard

 

Dry Branch, GA- Billy Rogers Pritchard, 78, of 3685 Myers Street, died Monday, May 9, 2011. Services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 1:00PM at Antioch Baptist Church, Dry Branch, Georgia. The Reverends Doug Harris and Bill Linder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends on Wednesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street.

Mr. Pritchard was the son of the late Benjamin Frank Pritchard and the late Janie Mae Houston Pritchard. He was predeceased by a brother, Leo Pritchard and a sister, Marion Pless. Mr. Pritchard was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught the Mixed Adult Sunday School Class. He was a guidance counselor for many years with the Houston County Board of Education. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served in the Korean War.

Leigh Brody

 

Leigh Brody, 75, of Macon, died Friday, May 6, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Sha’arey Israel section in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Rabbi Rachel Bat-Or officiating.

Mr. Brody was a member and past president of Congregation Sha’arey Israel. He was past President of the Jewish Federation, former owner of Kite’s Bootery, and former Manager and Agent Emeritus of Genworth Financial. A graduate of The University of Georgia, Mr. Brody was an avid Georgia Bulldogs football fan. He served in the United States Army and Reserves.

James Samuel Lyles

 

Macon-James Samuel Lyles, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in the Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Reverend Jesse Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday from 1 p.m until service time in the funeral home.

Born in Wilkinson County, he was the son of the late C.E and Berta Lyles. He was predeceased by his wives, Francis Fordham Lyles, Mamie Sauls Lyles, and Mattie Griffin Lyles and by a stepson, Wayne Grimsley. He was a retired supervisor from Georgia Kaolin in Dry Branch, and a World War II veteran serving in the Navy. He also was member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Dry Branch, Ga.

Jimmie Franklin Clegg

 

Jimmie Franklin Clegg, 73, went to be with his Lord on May 7, 2011. Mr. Clegg was born in Wadley, Alabama to the late Dolis Sue Lynch (Radford) and James William “J.W.” Clegg. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a retired mechanic known for his exceptional ability to fix just about anything with a motor. He loved gardening and was especially proud of his roses.

Joan Maddox Williams

 

Macon- Joan Maddox Williams, 62, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 4:00PM, in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary of Cherry Street with the Reverend Charlie Edwards officiating. Burial in Adel, GA will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM.

Mrs. Williams was a Baptist.

(Brandy Clements) Shepherd of Macon, GA; Daughter, Melissa Tyler (Jon Gillis) of Macon, GA; Sister, Emelie (James) Lord of Macon, GA; Sister, Juanita Hopper of Byron, GA; Sister, Shirley (Harold) Gilder of Macon, GA; Sister, Jean (Rudon) Tuck of Monticello, GA; Companion, Dick Metzger of Macon, GA; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
