William Jacob Ham died Friday February 17, 2012, at Pine Pointe Hospice after a long illness.

Mr. Ham was born June 11, 1921, to Harvey Jackson and Emma Steller Ham in Cottonton, Alabama. One of three children, his early life was spent in Pittsview, Ala. He was graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Upon graduation, Mr. Ham entered the Army Air Force and served as provost marshal on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. During the Korean conflict, he was assigned to Furstenfeldbruck in Bavaria. After the war he remained in the Air Force Reserve.

Atlanta,GA- Dorothy Norris Truesdel died on February 16, 2012 at Brighton Gardens of Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia, where she had resided to be near her daughter and grandson since May 2009. She was lovingly cared for by Hospice in her final days and departed this world in the company of family and friends, with her dog Roxy lying beside her.

Dot was born in Cochran, Georgia and lived in Macon 67 years. She was married to Julius Edward Truesdel until his death in 1996. Dot managed the family’s casualty and property insurance business, last known as Kaplan-Truesdel Insurance Agency, which her husband began in 1948. After her retirement, Dot became an avid bridge player, caretaker for older family members, and warm and loving friend to her neighbors, church community and extended family.

Lizella- Lizzie Mae Powers, of 560 Carl Sutton Road, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012, at 11:00AM, in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. The family may be contacted at the residence. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Lee Bennett and Jimmy Ray Bennett.

Carol Jessica Bloodworth, 56, passed away on Sunday February 19, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 1pm Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Hart’s at the Cupola with the Reverends Chad Vaughn and Barbara Windom officiating. The family will greet guests beginning at noon. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery in Gordon, Georgia.

Albert Phillips Reichert

 

Albert Phillips Reichert died on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was born January 25, 1914, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Jacob and Ann Phillips Reichert.

He graduated from Lanier High School in Macon, where he was editor of the school annual. With the help of Reverend Ed Cook, he enrolled at Emory University in 1932 and worked at various jobs to help pay his way through college. He was a member and president of SAE social fraternity at Emory and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He later was inducted into the Emory Sports Hall of Fame.

David "Larry" Hartley

 

Macon- David L. “Larry” Hartley, 76, of 2750 Stanley Drive, died Monday, February 6, 2012. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Jason Wade officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Hartley was retired from Atlanta Gas Light Company after forty-four years of service. He was lovingly known as “Papa” and was an avid hunter, fisherman and softball player.

Ann Newberry Wilson

 

Macon- Ann Newberry Wilson, 93, formerly of Macon, died on Monday, February 6, 2012 in Florida. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:00PM at Macon Memorial Park. Dr. David Hunter will officiate. The family will greet friends on Friday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street.

Mrs. Wilson, born in Lizella, Georgia on December 29, 1918, was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Wilson, daughter, Deborah Jones, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
