Frances Shepard


Mamie Frances Shepard, 85, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. The Reverend Robert S. Kerr will officiate. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Hart’s at the Cupola. Donations may be made to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204. Mrs. Shepard graduated from Mount de Sales Academy and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and a member of Cross Keys Homemakers Club.

Thomas Blanie Sherwood


Macon- Thomas Blanie Sherwood, III, 82, of John Wesley Villas, died Friday, February 3, 2012. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00AM at Macon Memorial Park. The Reverend Dianne Sweckard will officiate. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tattnall Square Academy, 111 Trojan Trail, Macon, Georgia 31210.

Mr. Sherwood attended Forest Hills United Methodist Church and was a member of Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. A lifelong resident of Macon, he graduated from Lanier High School. Mr. Sherwood retired from Georgia Power in 1986 after thirty-six years of service. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis and was a loving grandfather and father.

Janice Francis Smith


Janice Francis Smith departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 03, 2012. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Bethany Baptist Church on Pea Ridge Road with the Reverend Jimmy Corbitt officiating. The family will receive friends at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery entering through the North Gate.

Born on October 07, 1946, in Twiggs County, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Dean and James Lamar Francis. She was a homemaker who adored raising her children, maintaining her home and an avid enthusiast of all of God's creatures, especially birds.

May W. Walker


May W. Walker of 200 Pierce Avenue, Villa 103 A died on January 29, 2012. Born in South Carolina on October 30 1907, she spent her early childhood in St. Clair, GA before moving to Augusta for the remainder of her years in elementary and secondary school. She graduated from Coker College in Hartsville, SC and earned a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in New York. A job teaching physical education at Wesleyan College brought her to Macon in 1930. She said she always felt guilty receiving pay for a job that she enjoyed so much. She made lifelong friends among her fellow faculty members and her students.

Her parents were Wade Hampton White and Carrie May Watson White. She had four brothers all of whom predeceased her.

Terry Lee O'Neal


Macon-Terry Lee O’Neal, 56, died Monday, January 23, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on Friday, January 27, 2012 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Steve K. Smith officiating and Russell Loyd giving the eulogy. Burial is private. Family will greet friends between 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Cupola. Family may be contacted at the residence.

Hilda Addleton


Charlotte, NC- Mrs. Hilda Addleton, age 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Macon and Warner Robins, Georgia, joined her husband, Leon, in Heaven on January 23, 2012. She was born in Macon, Georgia on December 20, 1922 to Raymond and Lela Glass.

Janie "Aretha" Underwood


Dry Branch,GA- Janie “Aretha” Underwood, 92, of 3688 Myers Street, died Thursday, January 19, 2012. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00AM at Riverside Cemetery. The Reverend Bart Lindsey will officiate. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at 3629 Myers Street, Dry Branch, Georgia.

Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Roy Underwood. She is survived by her children, Howard Underwood, Leonard Underwood and Brenda Underwood; five grandchildren, Len Underwood, Cathy Underwood DeLong, Brian Underwood, Kristie Vaughn and Josh Mixon; brother and sister-in-law, R. S. and Sue Shiver; sister-in-law, Mary Shiver; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
