Erickson Won't Run for U.S. Senate | Politics
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Erick Erickson says he won't be running for U.S. Senate after all.
But on Friday morning, Erickson posted on his Redstate.com blog that he won't put his young family through a "terribly nasty campaign." He also didn't want to be away from his wife and kids in the "pit of vipers" that is Washington D.C.
Erickson is a former Macon city council member and a Republican activist, blogger and radio and TV commentator.
On his Atlanta radio show Tuesday, Erickson first said he might run against Chambliss. The state's senior senator told 13WMAZ last week that he might break his 20-year-old pledge against higher taxes, as part of a deal to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff."
Erickson wrote Friday that he still hopes someone else will challenge Chambliss, but "I just won't be me."
We contacted Erickson Friday; he referred us to his statement online.
