'I LOVE Macon" Campaign Nets 10,000 Signatures

The movers and shakers behind the "i love macon" campaign announce that they've reached 10,000 signatures Tuesday.

In other words, 10,000 people have signed the "i love macon" pledge, "to stand up for the city we love, stop the negative conversation and to be the change we want to see in our city," according to  a release.

Main Street Macon Takes Helm of ShopLocalMacon.com

Macon, GA --  Main Street Macon is proud to announce that it has taken over promotion and maintenance of the ShopLocalMacon.com website. A press conference will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Third Street Park to make the official announcement and talk about the importance of shopping locally.

“Main Street Macon is proud of the partnership that has been forged with the College Hill Alliance. We are both working on economic development projects and promoting our local, independent businesses shows businesses considering Downtown and College Hill that we care about them and understand the importance of independent businesses in our economy,” said Mechel McKinley, Main Street Macon Manager.

Connecticut Students Help Repair Macon Homes

Connecticut Students Help Repair Macon Homes

University of Connecticut students are helping repair Macon homes this week.

The twenty-six students traversed the 1,100 miles in 18 hours to help repair homes alongside Rebuilding Macon, according to a news release.

They'll build wheel chair ramps, rebuild stairs, paint and help prepare homes for various weather conditions.

Last year, Rebuilding Macon repaired 340 homes for elderly and disabled homeowners free of charge.

'I Love Macon Week'

MACON, GA.--I Love Macon Week takes place during Georgia Cities Week from April 22-28.

'I Love Macon' is a grassroots effort that focuses on what you love about Macon, a City of Macon news release says.


How to join the campaign: sign the pledge that says you will be an advocate for Macon, respond positively in the face of negativity and recruit five other people to sign the pledge.

Mercer Village Hosts St. Patty's Day Party

At the St. Patrick's Day party in Mercer Village, Jonathan Wisdom and Caleb Thornley performed an acoustic set.

The video clip shows the guys covering "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. Wisdom is a member of Macon-based band theKey and Thornley is a Mercer University freshman.

During the event, Barnes & Noble at Mercer University was officially welcomed to the Corridor with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening.
