Introducing the First Group of New Junior Journalists

The 13WMAZ "Surprise Squad" made its first stop of the day Monday to Banks Stephens Middle School in Forsyth.  That's where Annette St. Claire broke the news to Samantha Walton that she had been chosen as a junior journalist.

The second stop of the day was Alexander II in Macon, where fifth-grader Aman Boricha-Masand was told he also made the cut.

Then, it was off to Miller Middle School in Macon, where Hannah Bonney was also announced.

13WMAZ was there as the three of them called their parents, who weren't told beforehand that their child had been selected.

The junior journalists were selected among 120 kids auditioning in Macon and Warner Robins.

For the next two years, they'll work alongside 13WMAZ reporters and staff and get to have their stories run on air, including "My Teacher is Tops."

There were 10 junior journalists selected, meaning there are 7 left to announce this week. The "surprise squad" could be heading to your school next!
