Wesleyan falls to Hiwassee | Schools
MACON, Ga. - Jasmine Davis scored 26 points to go with 10 boards as Wesleyan saw a huge rally and late lead get away in a 64-60 loss to Hiwassee at home.
After Wesleyan's starting back-court picked up two early fouls each in the first half, Hiwassee took advantage on its way to building a 29-14 lead. Head Coach Mike Walton decided to take a chance and re-inserted Nevia Lewis and Kellie Bacon. The gamble paid off in a big way as the Wolves scored the final 18 points of the first half to claim a 32-29 advantage at halftime.
The second half was closely contested with Wesleyan leading for all but 1:13 until a 3-pointer by Taryn Lemon put the Tigers ahead 62-60 with just 57 seconds remaining. The Wolves took a couple of shots to tie the game, but Hiwassee secured the rebound and hit two free throws to seal the victory.
Lewis added 16 points while Bacon finished with 11 for the Wolves. The Tigers placed four in double figures led by Tori McMinn's 18 points.
Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday when they head to Judson College looking to sweep the season series. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm
