District Teams Top Computer Programming Competition | Schools
Howard and Rutland High School teams placed first and second in Mercer University's Alice Programming Contest, which took place between October 31 and November 8.
Alice is a 3D computer programming environment in which students in the competition were given four scenarios to create. A total of 63 teams from seven states competed in the event, which centered around the theme "Scary Stuff."
Howard High School computer programming team Giant Yellow Tigers, featuring Chris Cannon, Nick Carlson, Zach Carlson and Daniel Pham, became the first team in the history of Mercer's Alice Programming Contest to repeat as first place winners. The team also took first place last April in the competition entitled "April Showers."
From Rutland High School, the team of Eggs and Bacon, featuring Zack Davenport, Sam Ingram, Devin McBryde, and Colin O'Neal, took second place in the competition.
