Mercer to stagger scholarships over three years

Next Wednesday is the big high school football signing day.

Mercer is going to be well represented in the mix as they negotiate their move into the Division One Southern Conference.
This is a big change for the Bears because last season, they didn't offer scholarships. We sat down with Head Coach Bobby Lamb as he explained why the program will go through some exciting and challenging times because of the transition.

Lamb has put a lot of travel miles in since Christmas.

Middle Georgia State College campuses to open at noon Thursday

Middle Georgia State College announced Wednesday afternoon that due to concerns over icy roads in the morning, all campuses would open at noon Thursday.  Classes scheduled before noon are cancelled.

MGSC announces postponement of basketball games

Middle Georgia State College announced Tuesday morning that due to pending winter weather and all campuses being closed, Wednesday's home basketball games versus South Georgia Tech have been postponed until Thursday. 

Both will be at Morris Gym in Cochran, women 5:30 pm and men at 7:30.

Howard High Senior Named Semifinalist for Intel Science Talent Search 2014

Teva Ilan, a Howard High School senior, was one of 300 students nationwide to be named a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2014. As a semifinalist, Teva will receive a $1,000 award. In addition, Howard High School will receive $1,000 in recognition of its excellence in science education. The Intel Science Talent Search brings together the best and brightest young scientific minds in the United States to compete for $1.25 million in awards. Semifinalists were selected from nearly 1,800 entrants hailing from 489 high schools throughout the country.
