Members of Southwest High School’s Students of African American Brotherhood (SAAB) chapter attended Clayton State for a Summit Conference on Saturday, November 2.

The students were empowered by SAAB founder Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe, who motivated them to be leaders by taking action and responsibility for their future.

Vineville Second-Grader Meets with Mayor for Class Project

Vineville Academy of the Arts second-grader Ashton Young met with Macon Mayor Robert Reichert on Friday, November 8, for a class project called "In'vest' in the State of Georgia."

Ashton is in Jill Hunnicutt's class at Vineville Academy. As part of the project, students had to design a wearable vest that displayed information about their selected topic from the state of Georgia.

Alex II Students Donate Canned and Dry Goods to Macon Rescue Mission

Workers from the Macon Rescue Mission collected canned goods from Alexander II Magnet School on Friday, November 22. Alexander II's Student Council sponsors a food drive each year, but this was first time the Student Council received more than 2,500 canned and dry goods.

Earnestine McRae's third grade class donated the most goods with 863 cans.

Central GA Tech Titans Win tough game over GA Perimeter College

MACON, Ga. - Central Georgia Tech's Brentine Taylor picked up the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week following performances over the past seven days, announced Monday by the league office.

Taylor averaged 18 points on the week, which included a 27-point, 14 rebound effort against Georgia Perimeter College on a efficient 12-of-24 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. The 6'6" sophomore forward is averaging 20 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on the season.

Hartley Elementary Hosts Fall Festival

Hartley Elementary School staff spent their last day prior to the Thanksgiving Break hosting a Fall Festival for students and parents. On Friday, November 22, different fun stations and activities were set up for all students to participate.

Activities consisted of hula hoop, board games, bean bag toss, sack race, nail paintings and much more. Students purchased tickets for their favorite foods and treats such as pizza, hotdogs, candy apples, and cotton candy. A lot of hard work and dedication was put in the planning, and staff members wish to thank the school’s PTO and PBIS team for organizing the event.
