Wesleyan College Celebrates 175 Years

The celebration of Wesleyan College's 175th year begins Friday, February 11 at 2 p.m. with the re-opening and dedication of the newly renovated Taylor Hall.

Tours and reception will follow the ceremony.

Wesleyan Falls to Spelman

Ciara Walker's 11 points and 10 rebounds led Wesleyan College in a 52-41 loss at Spelman College on Tuesday night. 

The loss dropped the Pioneers to 4-14 (0-12), while the Jaguars improved to 6-13 (3-9), a Wesleyan news release says.

Bre Solmone once again pulled down double digit rebounds for the fifth time in six games with 16 on the night.  Spelman was paced by Jasmine Taylor's 12 points and 9 rebounds.

The Pioneers return to action tomorrow night, Wednesday, Feb. 9 in their final home game of the season. 

They will take on league-leading Maryville College at 6 p.m.

CGTC to Host SkillsUSA Region 5 Championships

The high school level SkillsUSA Region 5 Championships will take place Friday, February 4.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at Central Georgia Technical College.

Students will travel from around the state to compete in hands-on contests.

Winning this championship will advance competing students to the state level championships.

Middle Georgia Recruitment Fair

A teacher recruitment fair for six Middle Georgia counties: Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe, Peach and Twiggs.

The event is scheduled for March 19 at Westside High School from 9 a.m. until noon.

Bring 20 copies of your resume. GaTAPP informational sessions will also be provided.

Bibb County Superintendent Investiture to be Streamed Online

The Investiture of Dr. Romain Dallemand as the Bibb County School District Superintendent on Monday, January 31 will be streamed online LIVE beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The invited guests include local & state political leaders, Middle Georgia RESA Superintendents, presidents of area colleges, principals with identified school leaders, district administrators, and local media.

A formal program will include greetings from the business community and local leaders, teacher and student representatives, student performances, and Dr. Dallemand taking his Oath of Office.

MidSouth Community FCU Sponsoring Dallemand Investiture

The Investiture of Dr. Dallemand as the Bibb County School District Superintendent on January 31 is being sponsored by MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union.

“We look forward to the Superintendent bringing a fresh perspective, strong focus, and a total-commitment to quality education in our community,” says Harry Trawick, MidSouth Board Chairman and retired Bibb County School District Deputy Superintendent. “MidSouth was founded by Bibb County educators originally, for Bibb County educators, and this foundation remains strong. It's important for those who can, to step forward and help build our educational system from every aspect, including financial support when possible.”

Winter Graduation to be Streamed Online

The district’s 2011 Winter Graduation is being held on Wednesday, January 26 at Central High School beginning at 6 p.m.

For the first time, it will also be streamed online by visiting http://tinyurl.com/BCSDWinterGrad11. Quotations from the speakers will also be posted live to the district’s Twitter account at www.twitter.com/bibbschools.

Almost 50 students from all seven high schools will participate in the ceremony, and this year’s featured speakers are Rutland High School Senior Eunice Waters and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mack Bullard.
