Mount de Sales Academy Students Visit Andersonville National Historic Site

Mount de Sales Academy eighth grade students visited Andersonville National Historic Site where they saw the Andersonville Civil War prison, the National Cemetery and the National Prisoner of War Museum.

At Andersonville, officially known as Camp Sumter, almost 13,000 of the approximately 45,000 Union prisoners held at the prison during the Civil War died because of starvation, malnutrition and disease, according to the National Park Service's website.

 

 

 

Mount de Sales Academy Supports Ronald McDonald House

Mount de Sales Academy, through its annual support of McJeans Day, made a $468 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia. Museum of Aviation Holds Poster Contest

The Museum of Aviation Education Department is inviting 4th graders to submit an entry in the 8th Annual Skyscapes Poster Contest.  This year’s theme is “What Can You Do With Red, White and Blue?” in honor of the American Flag’s Colors.  

Individual entries must be delivered to the Education Department by Nov. 5, and judging will take place on Nov. 9.  Entries will be judged on artistic talent and creativity in representing the theme.  Posters will be judged by the Robins Air Force Base Officer’s Spouses’ Club and other community leaders. The top 7 winners will receive prizes, and their artwork will be on display in the Century of Flight Hangar for a year following the contest.

Mount de Sales Academy's MdS Troubadours is proud to present it's fall one-act play, an excerpt from A Piece of My Heart by Shirley Lauro at the David J. Zuver Performing Arts Theater.
