This past December, Macon-Bibb County reopened the block of Second Street between Cherry and Poplar Streets to vehicular traffic after a short event with comments from Mayor Robert Reichert, Commissioners, SPLOST Advisory Committee Chair Jeffery Monroe, and representatives from TY Lin International and Chris R. Sheridan & Co.

Macon-Bibb Selected for Free Assistance with Smart Growth Strategies

Smart Growth America – a national nonprofit that advocates for better cities, towns, and neighborhoods — announced today that Macon-Bibb has been selected to receive a free two-day technical assistance workshop in 2015. (The date and location of that workshop have not yet been set.) Through the support and guidance of our Strong Cities, Strong Communities Initiative team, Macon-Bibb developed an application that was one of 14 selected from more than 120 applications submitted from 35 states.

I don’t know about you, but I am having a hard time grasping the fact that Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks away. Then Christmas is right on its heels! Every year it seems like the Christmas season sooner arrives sooner and sooner. I blame the stores who put out Christmas merchandise before Halloween. Even yesterday (11/4) I drove through a town that had all of its Christmas trees up and decorated! In the words of Peter Walsh, it's all too much!
