A group run is listed for the Macon Trails from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Mount de Sales Academy Seniors Awarded Cavalier Spirit Scholarships

Mount de Sales Academy seniors Liza Hardison, Joe Boltri, and Katie Odom are recipients of the 2011 Cavalier Spirit Athletic Scholarship Awards.

Each honoree received $500. Applicants for this annual award are reviewed based on active involvement in the Mount de Sales varsity athletic program.

Specific criteria include the level of participation, commitment to the athletic program, commitment to self-improvement as an athlete, sportsmanship, grade point average, recommendation from a head coach, and a brief student essay describing what athletics at Mount de Sales has meant to him or her.

 

 

Local Fencers Qualify for U.S. Nationals

Local Fencers Qualify for U.S. Nationals

Four members of the Warner Robins Fencing Society (WRFS) competed in Suwanee Georgia at the 2011 Southeast Section Qualifier to the U.S. Fencing Nationals.  The competition brought fencers from across the Southeastern U.S. to vie for one of the top 8 slots available in each event to represent their respective division  and the Southeast at the U.S. Nationals which will be held in Reno, NV June 30 - July 10, 2011.  Warner Robins Fencing Society entered four competitors in four events. In Men's Antonio Lewis-Ross, a senior at Southwest High School in Macon finish 16th.  Clinton Harrison, a Macon State freshman, placed 26th in the Men's Foil event.  Suzanne Thompson  of Warner Robins finished 8th in the Women's Epee event earning a slot for the Reno Nationals.

Mount de Sales Academy Soccer Players Set New Season Records

Mount de Sales Academy Soccer Players Set New Season Records

Mount de Sales Academy senior soccer players Lindsey Knott and Abby Dalton have both set new school season records for goals and assists respectively. Knott broke the season record of 21 assists, previously set by Katie Coates (’02) and Erica Arena (’04) during a game against Southland Academy on April 26. Dalton broke the goal scoring mark with her 52nd goal of the season against Georgia Christian on April 28. The previous goal record was also set by Katie Coates during the 2001 season.

 

Mother's Day Second Sunday Brunch

Dublin's E.G. Kight will perform at College Hill's Second Sunday Brunch in Macon this weekend. 

The event is scheduled for Mother's Day Sunday, from 1-3 p.m. in Washington Park.

Admission is free, and families can pack picnics or buy a boxed lunch on site.
