3rd Annual CGTC Challenge 5K & 10.2K Road Race

The extremely popular CGTC CHALLENGE 5K & 10.2K ROAD RACE is coming back for a third year!  The race will be held on April 13, 2013 at 8 a.m. at the Milledgeville Campus.

The event, held in honor of Tim Jenkins, will be open to the public and all proceeds will benefit student scholarships at CGTC. Prizes will be awarded in all age groups plus a special award will be given to the overall CGTC winner.

Williams Elementary Student Council Members Visit Mercer

On Saturday, February 9, Student Council members from Williams Elementary School visited Mercer University and attended a basketball game. The Mercer Bears basketball team extended their home court winning streak against North Florida 64-44 to win their 13th game.

The students, who received free tickets to the game, enjoyed snacks and took pictures with Mercer's cheerleaders and mascots. Williams Elementary School Principal Dr. Shandrina Griffin-Stewart noted it was a time to energize, unwind, and enjoy the camaraderie.

On Friday, February 8, Rutland High School senior Darren Tucker signed with Fort Valley State University to play football. Darren is pictured with his parents by his side and Rutland High Principal Dr. Jerri Hall and Rutland High Athletic Director George Collins.

MGSC Splits with Georgia Perimeter

Middle Georiga State College split a home doubleheader with Georgia Perimeter with the women losing 56-41 and the men prevailing 60-52.  Cortez Riley led with 14 points. 

Cochran's Joey Harris had eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals.

The homestand continues Wednesday versus Central Georgia Technical College. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Northeast High School Receives Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award

Northeast High School Receives Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award

Northeast High School has been named a winner of the 2012 Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes schools for their superior efforts at displaying good sportsmanship. This award was for the 2011-2012 school term.

The Georgia Electric Membership Corp. (GEMC) presents the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award to honor Georgia High School Association (GHSA) schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitive events. Northeast High School joins 37 other GHSA schools throughout the state this year as winners of this exceptional award.

Selected by GHSA region secretaries, the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award honors sportsmanship demonstrated by athletes as well as that of fellow students, parents, coaches and spectators alike, making the award a tribute to the entire school community.

'I LOVE Macon" Campaign Nets 10,000 Signatures

'I LOVE Macon" Campaign Nets 10,000 Signatures

The movers and shakers behind the "i love macon" campaign announce that they've reached 10,000 signatures Tuesday.

In other words, 10,000 people have signed the "i love macon" pledge, "to stand up for the city we love, stop the negative conversation and to be the change we want to see in our city," according to  a release.
