Mulberry Street Market Recipe: Collard Greens with Lemon

 

The Mulberry Street Market is set today, Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m.

Ingredients:

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) unsalted butter

1 garlic clove, smashed

2 small bunches collard greens (about 1 1/2 pounds), stems removed, leaves cut crosswise into 1/2-inch strips

3/4 cup homemade or store-bought low-sodium chicken stock

Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest 

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Lemon wedges, for serving

'I LOVE Macon" Campaign Nets 10,000 Signatures

The movers and shakers behind the "i love macon" campaign announce that they've reached 10,000 signatures Tuesday.

In other words, 10,000 people have signed the "i love macon" pledge, "to stand up for the city we love, stop the negative conversation and to be the change we want to see in our city," according to  a release.

A press conference will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Third Street Park to make the official announcement and talk about the importance of shopping locally.

We are both working on economic development projects and promoting our local, independent businesses shows businesses considering Downtown and College Hill that we care about them and understand the importance of independent businesses in our economy,” said Mechel McKinley, Main Street Macon Manager.

Mayor, Commissioner to Proclaim 'I Love Macon Day' Tuesday

Mayor Robert Reichert and Bibb Co. Commissioner Sam Hart are slated to proclaim Tuesday, January 8, 2013 as "I Love Macon Day."

The proclamation takes place in Rosa Parks Square at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
