Downtown Sports Bar Opens Thursday

Macon, GA – September 15, 2011 – Fowl Play, a new sports bar and wing restaurant in Downtown, celebrates its grand opening Thursday, September 15 at 3:00 p.m. at 580 Cherry Street.

That's according to a Main Street news release.

Owners, Brian Jones and Joey Burtner, along with general manager, Bryan Gillespie, saw an opportunity to fill a niche in Downtown.  “We wanted to cater to the professional lunch crowd and the college crowd at night.  There hasn’t been an after hours place to get food and we thought that was something Downtown needed,” says Gillespie.

Fowl Play will have the NFL Sunday Ticket for showing NFL games in addition to college games.  They also plan to show UFC fights.  “That’s something no one is doing and there is a large following for fights,” Gillespie says.  Fowl Play will also be the official game day location for the UGA Alumni Association Middle Georgia Chapter.
