So, to refer yall back to an earlier blog, I have been compared to the guy in the Red Cross commericial, etc. But I really feel each charitable cause has it's own function and purpose and all are just as important. I have been learning a lot lately about two that I didn't really know about: the Advocasy Resource Center, or ARC, and the Dandy-Walker Alliance. Storefront Opens Friday, Promotes Capricorn Initiative

Downtown Macon opens its arms to The Opening Act, a storefront that aims to promote Macon music and awareness of the Capricorn Initiative.

The storefront opens Friday at 10 a.m. at 567 Cherry St.

Museum of Arts & Sciences Hosts Fashion Show

The Museum of Arts and Sciences in headed downtown to celebrate its 55th anniversary in high style. 

The community fashion show, "Strut!", features Macon's shopping boutiques and restaurants. The event takes place at the Terminal Station on Thursday, August 25.

Purchase an admission ticket for Strut and you’ll also receive a complimentary day pass for the Museum.

College Hill Hosts Grand Opening for Lofts at Mercer Village


The College Hill Alliance, in conjunction with the Mercer Village merchants, will host a grand opening for the Lofts at Mercer Village this Wednesday, August 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the lobby entrance to the Lofts, located at 1602 Montpelier Avenue.

The event will include ribbon cuttings for the Lofts and three of its retailers, Designer Tan, Fountain of Juice and Margaritas at Mercer Village. 

The grand opening will occur during the Back to School Bash in Mercer Village. The Bash takes place from 6-9 p.m. in the Village and features live music by the Mike Kinnebrew Band, food and retail discounts, outdoor games and giveaways. Mercer University Athletics will also take part in the festivities with a presentation of Mercer coaches and team members at 7:15 p.m.

I have always loved music and have gone to concerts as much as I could since I was 14 and could beg a ride. I have seen some of the great shows and at one point was lucky enough to go to the then, largest country concert In the world, The US festival. One of the things I have loved over the years was warm-up bands. I saw Ronnie Milsap in Macon in the 70’s and his opening crew was awesome, so awesome in fact, they later became one of the biggest names in country music of all times ALABAMA, yep that’s who that was, I was able to catch Gary Morris in Pensacola club once and 12 months later he was billboards entertainer of the year. When we saw him, on his breaks he came and sat with us and chatted, 2 years later he left Country Music and went to Broadway to head up LES MIS

Saturday night you can pop up to Forsyth to catch the Bonner Creek Band at The Rose Theatre on the square. The bluegrass group strikes up at 8 p.m. Ticket are $15. For more info call 478-994-0443.
