Robin Thompson’s 2nd Grade “Gifted Program” at J.H. Porter Elementary was given a project to research which organizations needed assistance in the Macon area.
That's according to a Macon Rescue Mission news release.
Each student investigated a community organization that helps people in the Macon area.
Second grade student Emily Slavin had the winning nomination: Macon Rescue Mission.
The entire school than had a food drive to support the Mission.
The goal was to reach a 1,000 items and the men from the Mission picked them up Wednesday morning, the release says.
