A tractor trailer driver lost control of his rig about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday while exiting the Industrial Highway in south Bibb County.

Lt. Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the truck's driver, Timothy Thomas of South Carolina, was attempting to exit onto Highway 247, northbound when he blew a tire and hit a guard rail.

DeFoe said "chunks" of concrete were knocked from the overpass onto HWY 247. He said a couple of cars had minor damage, but there were no injuries.

Traffic on 247 has been slowed to one lane.

The truck's fuel tank was dislodged, spilling 80 gallons of fuel on to both the bridge and below on highway 247.

The truck is owned by Continental Express.

Cleanup lasted until around noon Tuesday.
