Robert Peyton


Robert C. “Buddy” Peyton, 95, died June 17, 2011. Mr. Peyton was born in Frankfort, Kentucky and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the United States Army for four years. He retired from Stagg Distillery, where he worked as a security guard for thirty-five years. Mr. Peyton was a member of the Frankfort VFW and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Peyton was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Elizabeth Wiley Peyton.

Mr. Peyton is survived by his daughter, Dawn Nash (Scott) of Macon; step-son, Floyd Ellis (Joyce) of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; grandchildren, Marcus Nash (Alena) of Macon, Chris Nash (Nicole) of Louisville, Kentucky; step-grandson, Len Ellis (Kelly) of Warsaw, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Peyton Ezra Nash of Louisville, Kentucky, Ethan and Aidan Nash of Macon; step-great-grandchildren, Jenna and Hayden Ellis of Warsaw, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.

Frances Michael

 Macon- Frances D. Michaels, 93, of 1330 Forsyth Street, died Thursday, June 16, 2011. Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 10:00AM. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery at St. Phillips Church in Crossingville, Pennsylvania. The family will greet friends at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street on Sunday from 4:00PM until 6:00PM with a rosary being said at 6:00PM.

Mrs. Michaels was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had been a resident at St. Paul’s since 1988. Mrs. Michaels was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Leonard Michaels, and a son, Thomas Patrick Michaels.

Katherine Mercer Britt


Katherine Mercer Britt, 92, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate.

Mrs. Britt, daughter of the late Johny Mercer and Cora Lee Edenfield Mercer, was born in Candler County, Georgia. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Mrs. Britt was a member of West Highland Baptist Church.

She was devoted to her family who survivor her, her daughters, Delores C. Worley of Juliette, Georgia, Donna (Bruce) Bergey of Gainesville, Georgia, and Kathy (George) Laven of Dunlap, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Natalie Cole, Deanna (Sam) Grice, and Mark Scarborough; three great grandchildren, Samuel, Andrew and Hannah Grice; one brother, Charles (Geneva) Mercer; one niece, Janice (Mike) Bloodworth; and one nephew, Gary (Susan) Mercer.

Juliette- Ivy Doyce Knight, 72, of Juliette, Georgia, passed away on June 14, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Faye Brake Knight; children, Tommy (Peggy) Knight, Sandy (Perry) Cook and Derrick (Christy) Knight; grandchildren, Justin Knight, Cassie and Candice Cook, Christian and Calen Knight.

Memorial services will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Bolingbroke on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Building Fund or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Gertrude "Trudy" Baker Daugherty


Macon- Gertrude “Trudy” Baker Daugherty, died June 13, 2011, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of the late Ivanore Wood Baker of Atlanta and the late Frank Foute Baker of Macon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall H. Daugherty and daughter Carla McAuley. She is survived by a daughter, Deryl Dantzler of Macon; four grandsons: Kennon Dantzler of Macon, Aubrey McAuley of Austin, Texas, Ruben McAuley of Maui, Hawaii and Marshall McAuley of Valley Village, California; and six great grandchildren. Services will be private.

Trudy Daugherty was born in Macon in 1918 and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She was a civilian personnel officer at Robins Air Force Base for many years and was active in the Macon Garden Club, the Macon Little Theatre and the Museum of Arts and Sciences.

Woody G. Hudgens Jr.

Woody G. Hudgens, Jr., 45, entered into rest on June 9, 2011. Woody was born on May 8, 1966 in Macon, Georgia. He was a 1984 graduate of Gilead Christian Academy, a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Georgia Tactical Officer's Association. Woody served seventeen years at the Warner Robins Police Department as a member of the S.W.A.T. team and as a bicycle officer before joining the Centerville Police Department three years ago. In Centerville, he worked as a patrol sergeant, a bicycle officer, and a certified police instructor with a specialization in defensive tactics. Woody loved his church, his family, and his community. A cyclist, he rode his bicycle across the state of Georgia for six years in a row, raising funds for the Special Olympics. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Beverly Jo Couture Hudgens, Davenport, Florida; parents, Woodfin G.
