Macon- Blanford Johnson Gandy died peacefully Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Pine Pointe Hospice surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 1:00PM at Riverside Cemetery (North Gate) with the Reverend James Duke, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Gandy was born in Meigs, Georgia, but lived in Macon most of her life. She worked in the family restaurant business, Mark’s Cellar and The Saratoga, and retired after many years as Fashion Advisor with Kiralfy-Goldman. She was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church and the Edmund F. Cook Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gandy was predeceased by her husband, Marcus A. Gandy, Sr.

Patricia Elaine Wilkes Walker


Patricia Elaine Wilkes Walker, 61 of Macon, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker was born in Macon, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late James W. Wilkes. She was retired from Georgia Farm Bureau and was a member of Vineville Baptist Church.

Barbara Moorman Wright

Macon- Barbara Moorman Wright, 84, passed away April 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2012, at 11AM, at the First Christian Church on Vineville Ave. The Reverend Will Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 2306 Vineville Ave, Macon, GA 31204 or to the Macon Rescue Mission, 774 Hazel Street, Macon, GA 31201. Ms. Wright was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Macon and was retired from Joseph N. Neel Company after 40 years of service. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Genevieve Matthews, Dorothy E. Moorman, Jack Moorman, Jr., Evelyn Calhoun Weatherly and Edna M. Havnaer.

Gray, GA- Catherine Grimes, 91, of 148 Camelot Road, Gray, Georgia died Sunday, April 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Rex Odom officiating. Burial will be private. Edwin Dargan Johnston, Sr.

Macon, GA- After a wonderful life of 93 years, devoted husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather, Edwin Dargan Johnston, Sr. of 5300 Zebulon Rd. went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday April 2, 2012. Born January 7, 1919 in Chattanooga, TN, as the first of four sons of Pinkney Leslie and Hilda Baker Johnston. He grew up in Miami and Jacksonville, and settled in Atlanta where he graduated from Boys High. Along with his three brothers, he attained the rank of Bronze Palm Eagle, in the Boy Scouts of America, in a troop chartered by Druid Hills Baptist Church. Along with two of his brothers, he attended GA Tech. After answering a call to the Gospel Ministry of Jesus Christ, he transferred to Mercer University in Macon to begin his academic career in Biblical studies.

Linda Tyner Swygert Mullis


Macon- Linda Tyner Swygert Mullis, 53, of 433 Joycliff Terrace, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00AM at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend Christopher Peavy officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by her mother, Josephine Lowery Usher of Warner Robins; children, Brandi M. Scarborough of Gray and Brannon L. Swygert (Lori) of Aberdeen, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ella Swygert, Lexi Scarborough and Hunter Scarborough; sisters, Connie Pierce and Beverly Davis, both of Warner Robins.
